Disneyland 2014!

We decided since school finishes somewhat early here that we would try going to Disneyland right after school ended to see if we could beat the crowds.  Not sure if we were totally successful but it did seem that there were a somewhat reduced number of people in the lines (not significantly but somewhat).

ZBL had a great time and we managed the differences in ability to ride rides well, I think.  The baby switch passes helped too of course as SPL could ride 2 times for every time he had to stand in line (or at least he could go through the fast pass line the 2nd time :).  Grizzly River Run and Space Mountain, two of our favorite rides, were down, so that was a bummer, but we had a blast making funny faces for the cameras on Splash Mountain and  CA Screamin’ (the 1 loop roller coaster with the blast off beginning in CA Adventure) (a Korb family tradition :).

ZBL also *loved* meeting the characters.  He wasn’t scared one iota and hugged and high fived Goofy, Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto (at least 3 times as we kept running into him :), Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore (need to get these photos from John :).

ZBL also rode his first roller coaster ride: the Toon Town Coaster (I didn’t get a great photo unfortunately as my “selfie” mode on my iPhone decided to take that moment to disappear so I got a so-so photo of the first hill.  Sigh.  Oh well…..).  ZBL wasn’t 100% sure of the ride after it was over but he did give me a pseudo smile as if to say “was that supposed to be fun?  You are smiling but I am not sure.” :)image

While SPL and I rode Cars 3 times, ZBL and John rode the tractors ride in Carsland 10?!?!? times!  And it’s a spinning one too – not quite Tea Cup Ride spinning, but it whips you around pretty good. ZBL was not fazed at. all.

Here are SPL and ZBL cuddling in the morning – cute pair!

ZBL also loved riding the carousels.

Waiting for the parade to start:

John had a conference call on wednesday morning so the boys and I hung out together for a few hours. Here we are waiting for the Disneyland train:

Z sure can rock the hat and curls look!

Z got to ride the “big kids’ ride” of Toy Story Mania this year :):

We still had the benefit of the baby switch passes which helped a ton so SPL only had to stand in line once but got to ride twice. We also tried out the single rider line this year so we could ride Cars more.  Worked like a charm – we even got to ride in the same car!

SPL had a blast again this year finding the 4 pins that were part of the Disneyland Resort packages for 2014 (he got all of the Cars pins last year too :).  And right before we left, he got the final one: the Buzz Lightyear and Woody pin!

A fun 5 days for all of us! Thanks Disneyland and CA Adventure!
