Summer is rolling on along and ZBL is now 25 months!  What a fun age.  His language is taking off and moving from 1 and 2 words to 3 and 4 words. Some favorite phrases include:

Whenever you mention lunch or dinner, ZBL says “Subway!”

STeve and aurelio come (they are our garbage guys who come on Thursday, Z’s favorite day of the week – we follow them around the neighborhood :)

And in Chinese, he can say:

la jee tong (garbage truck) - said on july 1

yo yo la – here it is again

mei o la – it’s gone

wo yao – I want

He can sing much of the ABC song song now and new words include recycling (saying it more clearly as we say it), tunnel (as we went under alma bridge), "on nyon" = lotion, funny, and tv.

On July 12 we had a funny exchange in his bedroom: 

Me: “put your left foot in/right foot in, do the Hokey pokey”

Z: (filling in): all about!

And 2 more funny stories:

When the baby gate pinched my hand, he got mad and hit the gate :)

“Mama hátoo, hatoo.” I didn’t know what he meant and he pointed to my nose and I realized he wanted me to pretend to sneeze.

ZBL insists on big brother helping him with his shoes and socks.

ZBL still loves recycling!  here he is with a tray of it :)

And even though his face says otherwise, Z loves to have SPL read to him.

And SPL made this sticker for Z – “who has 2 thumbs and is awesome? This guy.”

And we’ve been loving going outside to our garden.  Our watermelons are growing as are our pumpkins, tomatoes, and serrano peppers.  ZBL said “Xi gua” (watermelon in Mandarin) and “bee pollinate” (pumpkin flower) (we’d been talking about this earlier in the week and he pointed at the flower and said “bee pollinate” and surprised me :)

He’s graduated to using cup without lid and now insists on not having a lid.

He started preschool at a new school and loves it (they have a summer school program). It’s right down the street and is awesome – so it makes it a lot easier on the commute time :).  On 7/3 he got off his bike when we arrived, said “good bye!” and walked toward the door by himself :)

We turned his carseat around this month too and he quickly (1 week after doing so) became a back seat driving saying “go mama!” @ red light (still working on his colors :).

He’s also giving hugs and kisses more which is very charming and has figured out/can recognize the letter Z :)

On to 26 months!
